Heat Meters
Heat meters measure thermal energy and work where there is a supply and return pipework configuration. Heat meters measure the flow rate and temperatures of the supply and return to calculate a value of thermal energy.
Our range of heat meters are suitable for domestic and commercial applications, including for uses under the Heat Network (Metering and Billing) Regulations 2014 such as building entry meters and can be pre-installed in heat interface units (HIU).
Heat meter flow tubes are normally installed in the return pipework but can also be purchased for the flow pipework. A temperature sensor will need to be installed in the flow tube, ball valve or pocket in the supply and return pipework.
We recommend a MID Class 2 ultrasonic heat meter is selected for billing applications, with an output for remote reading such as MBus, Wireless MBus or LoRa, as well as allowing a connection to a PAYG Solution.
Cold Water Meters
Cold water meters measure the volume of water passing through them.
There are a number of technologies that can be used to measure the
volume of water including single-jet, multi-jet and ultrasonic.
Our range of cold-water meters are suitable for domestic and commercial applications.
It is important that a WRAS approved cold water meter is selected when being used for a drinking water application.
We recommend a MID approved cold-water meter is selected for domestic
billing applications to ensure highest levels of measurement accuracy,
as well as having an output for remote reading such as MBus, Wireless
MBus or LoRa.
Hot Water Meters
Hot water meters measure the volume of water passing through them.
There are a number of technologies that can be used to measure the
volume of water including single-jet, multi-jet and ultrasonic.
Our range of hot water meters are suitable for domestic and commercial applications.
We recommend a MID approved hot water meter is selected for domestic
billing applications to ensure highest levels of measurement accuracy,
with an output for remote reading such as MBus, Wireless MBus or LoRa as
well as allowing a connection to a PAYG Solution.
Data Collection
Getting the right meter is only half the challenge, making sure that
meter can be remotely read ensures you will have a robust metering
solution. We’re the UK’s largest partner of Elvaco and as a Premium
Partner can ensure you receive the best solutions at the most
competitive prices.
Sycous are data collection experts, so we can ensure you select the right open protocol,
wired or wireless solution for your application. We can also help you
with installation and commissioning, as well as ongoing management and validation of your meter data with Mabdeck Software.
Cooling Meters
Cooling
meters measure thermal energy and work where there is a supply and
return pipework configuration. Cooling meters measure the flow rate and
temperatures of the supply and return to calculate a value of thermal energy.
Our range of cooling meters are
suitable for domestic and commercial applications, including for uses
under the Heat Network (Metering and Billing) Regulations 2014 and can
be pre-installed in heat interface units (HIU).
Cooling
meter flow tubes are normally installed in the return pipework but can
also be purchased for the flow pipework. A temperature sensor will need
to be installed in the flow tube, ball valve or pocket in the supply and
return pipework.
We recommend an ultrasonic cooling meter is selected for billing
applications, with an output for remote reading such as MBus or Wireless
MBus, as well as allowing a connection to a PAYG Solution.
Electricity Meters
Our range of electricity meters, or energy meters, are available for a
range of domestic and commercial applications, whether they are
single-phase, three-phase, direct connected or CT connected.
We can supply electricity meters suitable for wall-mounting or
DIN-rail mounted for inclusion in electricity meter panels or consumer
units.
All our electricity meters are MID approved so are suitable for
billing applications and we can recommend a range of outputs for remote
reading, including Pulse, MBus and Wireless MBus.
Gas Meters
Gas meters measure the volume of water passing through them. There
are a number of technologies that can be used to measure the volume of
gas including diaphragm, turbine and rotary technologies.
Our range of gas meters are suitable for domestic and commercial
applications and can be MID approved for use as a sub-meter for billing
applications.
Where a PAYG system is required for sub-metered gas, please Get in Touch to find out about specific solutions we can provide.
Clamp-On- Meters
Clamp-on meters can be used to measure the flow rate of liquids using
non-invasive ultrasonic technology. A clamp-on flow meter can also be
used as a heat meter, where clamp-on temperature probes are also used.
An
in-line meter may not always be cost effective to install, or you may
want to only temporarily meter a specific location. Our range of
clamp-on meters are
ideal for short-term energy efficiency monitoring, long-term metering
and complication with building entry meters for the Heat Network
(Metering and Billing) Regulations 2014.
Our team are experts in installing, commissioning and maintaining clamp-on meters, just Get in Touch for more information.
Heat Cost Allocation
Heat cost allocators provide a measurement of the heat consumption
ratio by measuring the temperature difference between the radiator
surface and room air temperature. These readings can then be used to
allocate the energy costs across a building proportionate to the
readings on each heat cost allocator. This can be done through our
Mabdeck Software or Customer Billing Service.
Heat cost allocators are battery powered and are securely attached to
radiators; details of the radiators are set to the heat cost allocator
as part of the installation.
We recommend heat
cost allocators where a heat meter is not technically feasible or cost
effective to install and can be installed under the Heat Network
(Metering and Billing) Regulations 2014. Heat cost allocators can be
supplied with Wireless MBus or IoT (LoRa/NB-IoT) outputs for remote reading.
Heat cost allocators are also ideal for shared commercial spaces,
such as offices, where heat metering of individual offices is not
practical.
