To celebrate our incredible Business Development Executive Ben Taylor completing his Sales Executive Level 4 Pareto course, we sat down with him to learn more about how his experiences have prepared him for life at Sycous.

Why did you decide to apply to Pareto?

Ben: Well firstly I’ve always wanted a career in sales, I’ve always enjoyed the responsibility of selling in previous job roles and wanted to pursue a career in building relationships with my own clients. Pareto offered me the perfect gateway into sales without requiring the necessary experience.

Ben: Their apprenticeship training and company placement program provided the ideal platform for me to develop into a sales role after university!

What did your Sales Executive Level 4 course involve?

Ben: A lot! The fundamentals of sales, alongside how I could use these skills in my day-to-day role at Sycous.

Ben: It was also incredibly useful to learn from other course members about their sales role. The different responsibility’s and challenges they faced in their sector and how I could implement some of that insight into my own role.

How has Pareto prepared you for life at Sycous?

Ben: Pareto has definitely helped to build upon my confidence for working in sales. Whether that’s in client meetings, meeting new people or understanding how to interact with people in both positive and negative situations.

Ben: You realise when presenting your company to other course members how much knowledge you actually have on metering and billing! It really helps to build your confidence.

What’s the best thing about working at Sycous?

Ben: I mean we do have a barista level coffee machine… but I would have to say the ownership and responsibility Sycous offers in your role. It’s my relationship with my clients and I have the freedom and responsibility to build upon that overtime.

Ben: I would also say the mentorship provided by our Sycous Sales team. I’ve had amazing help and support throughout this process. We’re a tight knit team that helps each other out which is creates a really supportive environment to work in.

What’s next for your career path?

Ben: For me it’s to keep doing what I’m doing! Building upon my own account list and clients to progress towards a Business Development Manager Role.
