Sycous are delighted to become one of the first metering and billing providers in the UK to certify as a B Corporation!
After completing a rigorous social and environmental assessment, Sycous have joined a growing group of companies reinventing business by pursuing purpose over profit, demonstrating our commitment to goals outside of shareholder benefit. This B Corp certification ties in with the Sycous business values that ‘People are at the heart of what we do. Our team, you, your team, and your consumers. If it doesn’t benefit everyone, it’s not right for anyone.’.
The B Corp certification asses the entirety of a business’ operations and covers five key impact areas of Governance, Workers, Community, Environment and Customers. The certification process is rigorous, with applicants required to reach a benchmark score of over 80 while providing evidence of socially and environmentally responsible practices relating to energy supplies, waste and water use, worker compensation, diversity and corporate transparency. To complete the certification, companies will have to legally embed their commitment to purpose beyond profit in their company articles. Sycous have worked to achieve an overall B Impact score of 94.9 with the median score for ordinary businesses who complete the assessment at 50.9.
Sycous are now part of a community of 6,058 businesses globally who have certified as B Corps. The B Corp community in the UK, representing a broad cross section of industries and sizes, comprises over 1,000 companies and include well-known brands such as The Guardian, innocent, Patagonia, The Body Shop and organic food pioneers Abel & Cole.
